if you have sky or free view you do not have to worry, as they are digital already, worst case is you buy a cheap free view box for about £20 to £30 . price of digital TVs will drop further yet,but why bother if your old TV still gives a good picture

Just means you'll have to get a freeview box for about 15 quid.Bit more tricky with DVD recorders etc. Don't buy any new stuff without a digital tuner built in.If you have a freeview box for your telly and bet a DVD recorder without a digital tuner you won't be able to watch one thing whilst recording another after the switchover.

You can get them changed over, so no need to buy a new T.V. The picture is great and a lot of actors/actresses are going to have a lot more "Slap" (make-up) to cover them wrinkles!!

Okay, the digital switchover is when all TV stations in UK will transmit DIGITAL signals. This means the old type TV pix will no longer be available.
Panic ye not. The cure is at hand. If you have an old TV set and you are not yet ready to throw it away, you can by a digital converter box which sits on top of your existing TV and which will allow you to see digital TV signals.

The digital switchover means that all TV braodcasters will stop broadcasting using analogue signals but broadcast using only digital signals instead. This is a government requirement.
Currently, TV programmes are broadcast using both analogue and digital signals.
So, if you have an analogue TV, it will not be able to receive digital signals and therefore not receive any programmes. After the switchover, in order to receive programmes, you will require a TV compatible with digital broadcast.

do you have a scart socket on the back of your TV? If not is it connected to a video that has a scart socket? If the answer to either question is yes then you just need a set top box to plug in. These can be picked up for under £20 if you shop around a bit. You may need an aerial upgrade if the picture quality is bad but I wouldn't fork out yet unless you need the extra channels straight away. This is because when it comes to switch over the digital signal will be boosted. I was watching digital in Whitehaven last weekend and the picture was great. They have already gone through the switch over there.
